When the time came for their purification according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord.

When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth.

But they did not understand what he was saying to them.

At daybreak, the chief priests, with the elders and the teachers of the law, made their plans. They bound Jesus, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate.

They blindfolded him, struck him with their fists, and mocked him.

Having scourged Jesus, Pilate handed him over to be crucified.

The punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

The soldiers led Jesus into the hall called Praetorium and called together the whole company of soldiers.

Pilate said to the crowd: 'Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.'

When Jesus came out wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe, Pilate said to them, 'Behold the man!'

"What crime has he committed?", asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!"

After mocking him, they stripped him of the robe, put his own clothes on him, and led him away to crucify him.

As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross.

A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him.
